Biography

Formed as Gutted from the ashes of the short lived death metal act Zymurgy (which included all original Gutted members). Recorded the song "Power Of Evil" for the Doomsday Fest '92 cassette sampler before the name/style change to Gutted in '92 (going from straightforward Death Metal to a much faster and more technical style). Recorded their first demo in 1993 as Gutted, but soon afterwards the newer Ohio-based band Gutted got their record deal, leading the Cleveland Gutted to change their name to Odious Sanction. The entire demo remains unreleased and extremely rare, although some songs were released as Odious Sanctions debut demo (in their original form as well, not a re-recording). In the late 90s their style evolved once again, with them beginning to employ the Technical-Death-Metal-with-Hardcore-vocals style that they have since become well known for. Before "Psychotically Enraged" the band used growled Death Metal vocals with little (if any) Hardcore influence in the music, but increasing levels of technicality as the 90s progressed, culminating with the change in vocal style on "Punishment of Life" and further increasing levels of technicality in the time between "Punishment..." and "Psychotically Enraged".
